Cringe Mountain privacy policy

Your videos and captions

Recording, caption editing, and video export happen on your device. Videos, drafts, and finished exports stay on your device unless you choose to share them using another app.

Audio sent for AI transcription

Before transcription, we ask for your permission to send the extracted audio through Google Cloud to Groq, a third-party AI transcription provider. We send the audio and selected language. Groq returns caption text and timing. Our caption server processes these in memory and does not save audio or transcripts. Processing by our providers may occur outside your country.

Groq processes API data under its own privacy policy and API data practices. Provider retention and security practices are separate from our server’s temporary processing. Do not upload audio unless you have permission to share it.

Security and free usage limits

No signup is required. We use Firebase App Check to verify genuine app installations. Google and Apple process app and device attestation information for this purpose. A random installation identifier is stored on your device; our server stores a hash of it with daily usage counters. Usage records are scheduled for deletion after seven days; deletion is asynchronous. Reinstalling the app may change the identifier.

Google Cloud keeps operational request logs, which can include IP address, request time, selected language, response status, and latency. We do not intentionally put audio, captions, or access tokens into logs. The default operational log retention is 30 days unless a different retention policy applies to a required security or audit log.

Permissions and control

Camera and microphone access are used for recording. The system media picker lets you select a video. Notifications are optional posting reminders. You can decline transcription and manage permissions in device settings. Removing app data deletes local drafts; videos you exported or shared remain wherever you saved them. You can contact us about data handling without creating an account.

Advertising and changes

Cringe Mountain has no advertising or advertising tracking SDK. We update this policy when our processing changes. Questions or requests: cringemountain@dorkalev.com.
